Cohesivity vs Clerk

Clerk: “More than authentication. Clerk gives you full stack auth and user management.”

Clerk is what you reach for when auth is a real part of the product: drop-in sign-in and sign-up components, user profiles, organizations, MFA, and a user-management surface that looks good out of the box. It is generous too, free up to a large number of monthly active users, no card. You do create a Clerk account and configure it, but for a human-facing SaaS that is time well spent.

Cohesivity is not an auth company. Its social login (Google OAuth) is one line in a backend that also has a database, storage, hosting, and AI, all provisioned by your coding agent with no signup. So be clear-eyed about this one. Clerk is deeper and prettier at auth. Cohesivity's win is only that login arrives with the rest of the backend and needs no account of its own.

where Cohesivity fits

  • Login without a separate auth account. The agent provisions social login with the rest of the backend, so there is no Clerk-style dashboard to set up first.
  • One backend, not four vendors. Auth arrives next to the database, storage, hosting and AI from the same API, with the keys managed for you.
  • Enough auth to ship. If what you need is Google sign-in and a place to keep users, that comes provisioned. You are not standing up a full auth platform to get there.

when Clerk is the better call

Pick Clerk if auth is a first-class part of the product. Its prebuilt sign-in and profile components, organization and B2B features, and MFA are far richer than a single social-login option, and they save real time on human-facing apps.

Pick Clerk if you need more than Google login: multiple providers, email and password, passwordless, roles, or a polished account UI your users will see every day.

This is a depth call. Clerk is the specialist and does a lot Cohesivity does not. If the login and user-management experience is central to what you are building, Clerk is the stronger tool for it.

questions

Only for the case where you want basic social login to come with a backend rather than as a standalone product. Cohesivity provisions Google login as one service in a no-signup backend. Clerk is a dedicated auth platform with UI components, organizations, and MFA, which is deeper than what Cohesivity offers on auth alone.
